About Our programming
The Washington Neighborhood Center offers a variety of programs with a focus on education, recreation, wellness, culture, the arts, and youth development. Our goal is to provide an empowering, inter-generational space for youth, artists, and marginalized peoples.
Our programs are a key in holding space for marginalized communities. Through cultural programming, the Center offers opportunities for Chicano, Indigenous, and other marginalized communities to connect with our roots, engage in our traditions and cultural practices, and find community.
The Center also offers a wide range of youth-focused and all-ages programming. Our youth is our future – and we’re proud to provide children and young adults with opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and positive environment.
The Center is currently closed for the remainder of the year for construction. We plan to re-open Summer 2026. We will be continuing programming in alternative sites. Programming will focus on cultural preservation and youth leadership development to reinstate curriculum that builds upon the Royal Chicano Air Force (RCAF) legacy and Indigenous leaders at the Washington Neighborhood Center.
We’re expanding our programming.
From Fall 2025 to Spring 2026, the Center will undergo major construction to fully restore our historic building. This renovation project will open new facilities , and allow us to once again offer after-school programming in honor of legacy of WNC.
